Poetic License: Call for Submissions

EPHEMERAL LAYERS, RENEE ZHANG

ILLUSTRATION: “EPHEMERAL LAYERS,” BY RENEE ZHANG

The Poetry Barn is currently seeking submissions for its third annual POETIC LICENSE collaboration with The Arts Society of Kingston. We will choose poems for ASK’s artists to select from and use as inspiration to produce a work of art in any medium. If your poem is chosen by an artist, the resulting work will be exhibited in August at ASK’s gallery in Kingston, New York, accompanied by your poem. Poets will receive a 10% discount on any of the pieces in the exhibition.

We will consider previously published as well as unpublished poems. Editors Tina Barry and Lissa Kiernan look forward to reading your best work.

Guidelines

  • Poems must be no longer than 150 words, and no more than 25 lines long.

  • Send up to two (2) poems by March 28, 2022 using the subject line Poetic License 2022” in the body of an email to hello@poetrybarn.org (no attachments).

  • Include your name, address, email address, and phone number in your email (no bios, please).

Note: Your poem may be accepted by the editors, but not selected for interpretation by one of ASK’s artists.
