FAQ

Four-Week Online Workshops

Our four-week online workshops are asynchronous and correspondence-based, taking place in a state-of-the-art online platform. You have 24-7 access to your virtual classroom for six full weeks, from anywhere there’s an internet connection and a device to receive it.

Over four weeks, you'll explore the workshop's theme at your convenience via a sequence of interactive lessons and prompts. Each Monday at 12 PM EST, you'll receive a new module, including a lesson, readings, discussion questions, exercises and prompts.

When ready (ideally within the week*) you'll write and post a poem and offer a critique to at least three of your colleagues. Our teaching artists offer timely, in-depth feedback on each of your poems, including holistic comments and line edits.

Poems generated in your workshop are also eligible for submission to our literary journal, The Poetry Distillery. We publish a diverse sampling of the strongest, most exciting work in our community, and work with our authors to distill their poems to perfection as an extension of the workshop process.

*Time is fluid in an online workshop. Some weeks, you may be inspired and available to write and post a poem immediately. Other weeks, you may not be able to post right away. Our workshops remain accessible for an additional two weeks to give you ample time to enjoy the learning materials and peer conversations.
